Monday 21st October 2013

Firstly, apologies for no news, reminder to one-self DON'T MOVE THE COMPUTER AGAIN,

The new season got under way on the 30th Sept. with our C team visiting Meir B and coming away with a win, mainly down to one of their team not understanding the fact that, we only needed a draw to win the match, this was followed on Tuesday the 1st October by a narrow loss for our B team to Holmes Chapel Pawns, with Doug taking a draw, whilst thinking we had 3 other won games, that didn't turn out that way, this in turn was followed on Friday 4th Oct, by our A team unable to raise a team to go to Cheddleton.

On Tuesday 8th Oct. our A team did finally get a game against Newcastle B, coming out 3 -2 losers in some really close games, the following Monday the 14th saw us at Fenton for the Perry cup match, which we had a 2-2 draw, but lost on Board count.

Tuesday 15th October, our A team in action against Fenton A, again a narrow loss 3-2.
Our B team travelled to Stafford B on Weds 16th and got a really good 3 - 1 win, with 2 wins and 2 draws.

Thursday 15th August 2013

Last night saw the final match of this year's South Cheshire Shield Competition, Alsager playing up at Kidsgrove, with Kidsgrove needing a win that would have given them the Shield on game count, as it was we sent a relatively strong team , and ended up coming away with a win, this then meant, that Newcastle are this year's winner, this is the first year they have competed in the Shield Competition and under Captain John Day, won 4 out of 6 games, so well done.

Thursday 4th July

I have updated the table for the South Cheshire shield today.

If any one is interested; the AGM for the North Staffs league is next tuesday 9th July at Newcastle's Club, start 7.30, any one can go.

Monday 10th June 2013

SC Shield results page is now updated. Alsager are 2 points clear at the top of the table, following wins by James and Oliver last week against Holmes Chapel.
Holmes Chapel have played the most matches, but have so far failed to secure a point. Still it is early stages and plenty of time for the title holders to get back in to the competition!

Monday 27th May 2013

It was Holmes Chapel's turn to default a game in the second round of the South Cheshire Shield last Wednesday, losing on board one due to an overgrade, resulting in a 2.5 to 1.5 win to Newcastle, who now share top place with Alsager.

Holmes Chapel Newcastle
Ben Scattergood 1 -0 John Day
Martin Gill 0 1 Pete Shaw
Dave Price = Richard Cantliff
George Scattergood 1 0 Derrick Jones

Thursday 24th May 2013

The first game in the South Cheshire resulted in a controversy with Alsager fielding an ineligible player on board 1 - Brian Birchall at two grading points above the grade limit of 139. (U140 gives it away).

Captains please take time to read the rules which state clearly that the grade applicable is taken from the latest grading table (January) at the commencement of the competition.

Kidsgrove have been awared the full point for board 1, and Alsager penalised 1/2 point as per rule 6b. The overall result was not affected, with Alsager gaining the full two points 2
½ to 1.

The fixtures and results page is now up to date.
